Robert Rahal

Biography

Robert Rahal was born and raised in a small rural town outside Montreal. Throughout his life, he has engaged with the art industry across various platforms, ultimately culminating in his current focus on the circle and its myriad iterations. His paintings explore the shape's perpetual movement, each featuring a sphere at the center that elicits provocative reactions from both the artist and viewers alike. The circle symbolizes a range of meanings, from the infinity of time to expressions of everyday and nostalgic cultural objects.

Rahal's artwork articulates the symbiotic relationship between the static canvas and the dynamic interplay of color upon it. His full-bodied brushstrokes project his subconscious, creating a lucid exploration of free movement. His process combines physicality with meditative reflection, involving extensive research and methodology alongside the labor-intensive practice of self-reflection and introspection.

Rahal's work captivates with its polychromatic palettes, metallic and textural experimentation, and kaleidoscopic optical illusions. His artistic endeavors have achieved steadfast success both in Canada and internationally.
