Charles Richard
Biography
Montreal-born artist Charles Richard (Charlo) was shaped at a very early age by his surroundings. He has always been drawn to the eccentricities and magnetism of the people around him, as well as their creative honesty and values. Inspired by the beauty and aesthetics of architectural designs, Charlo understands how bold colors can be used to interpret and perceive his environment. His vivacious work plays with brush strokes, making his canvases come to life.
In 1995, he enrolled in the Saidye-Bronfman Art School in Montreal. Drawing with charcoal became the ideal medium for expressing the vulnerability of the naked subject through shades and light. Over time, he ultimately excelled at expressing his true self through abstract paintings. In a world without constraints, Charlo easily engages the viewer with his trademark: fleeting strokes.
